The CHU Nantes is at the heart of the urban development of Île de Nantes.

The project foresees the creation of a medical campus involving health care, research centers and laboratories, formalizing the identity and supporting the economic excellence of the territory. The new complex is characterized by a geographical scale in accordance with the Loire river and landscape, showing itself as a landmark of urban and architectural unity.

The building consists of 3 functional entities: the Academic and Administrative Pole, the Care Centre and the 24/7 Hospital and the oncological hospital. The space’s articulation grants an ideal orientation for the visitors, enabling the building to function as a whole. The façades of the CHU complex are characterized by a monumental rhythm along the outer perimeter, consisting of structural prefab concrete elements articulated in a horizontal texture. The central part of the building, and the hospitalization floors, feature a light and white steel façade system emphasizing the big entrance space.
